Product discovery, strategy including a 80 person workshop in a german castle. Website and mobile platform design.
Website design for desktop, tablet and smartphone. Product strategy infusing workshops and usability testing.
Problem:
CalHEERS was burdened with a subpar user experience that was not accessible on tablets and smartphones. Many of the users they were trying to reach could not afford computers with smartphones being their only access to the internet. All these factors were exasperated with industry specific language that was confusing and intimidating. The result was significant abandonment with returning users creating multiple accounts.
Process:
We started by conducting workshops with CalHEERS SME’s to truly understand the business and the challenges they faced. Once designs were approved by client stakeholders we moved to testing flows with actual users. Based on our findings we refined the flows and then conducted usability tests again. This process was repeated for each major sections of the experience. Extra care was also taken with addressing the content, making sure users of varying literacy level could understand the content in the site.
Solution:
The final result was a website that worked on multiple platforms including desktop, tablet and mobile. The user experience was guided by our findings from our users and SME’s creating a website that was no longer intimidating and frustrating to the user. It now resonates and reaches users regardless of financial means or literacy level. Oh, and we gave it some personality with a kick-ass branding refresh.
